At Mountain View Karate Centers, we are dedicated to cultivating excellence in martial arts and personal development. Founded in 1995 by Master Doug Armstrong, our school teaches American Ching Sai Do—a dynamic martial art that blends Tae Kwon Do, Shinjimasu Go-Ju, and Small Circle Jiu-Jitsu. Our mission is to empower students of all ages with the skills, discipline, and confidence to succeed both on and off the mat.

Meet Master Doug Armstrong

Master Doug Armstrong, our founder and chief instructor, began his martial arts journey in 1981 in Ji Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do. After joining the Navy, he continued his training in Hawaii under 9th Dan Hanshi Dean Bottomley, earning his 1st Dan in Shaolin Go-Ju in 1990. His dedication led him to study with esteemed martial artists, including Grandmaster “Professor” Wally Jay, founder of Small Circle Ju-Jitsu.

Achievements:

  • Inducted into the American Freestyle Karate Association Hall of Fame (2004)

  • Recipient of the Who’s Who Legends Award (2016)

  • Inducted into the Legends of Carolina Martial Arts (2022)
